Jellyfin is a compelling alternative to Plex and Emby, allowing the user to be in full control of their media. This dedicated server lets the end-user manage media from a variety of app. Jellyfin is entirely free (no strings attached at all). The community that supports it is heavily involved and frequently manages and updates it.
First, download the latest version from the official Jellyfin website .
Stable Windows copies can be found HERE

Part 1 – Let us begin!
You may get an alert stating the software is from an unknown publisher, this is common and is safe to continue by selecting ‘Yes’
Here are screenshots of the next installation steps…

The installation is complete, your browser might open automatically to the Jellyfin ‘Quick Start Guide’. If that’s you, proceed to the next guide.
If your PC security settings are higher, you may need to do a few more things.
- Restart your computer,
- Click on Start menu click on ‘Jellyfin Tray App’
- Once executed, the Windows Defender firewall will ask if you want to allow the application access. Click ‘Allow Access’
- Now you should have your browser pop open to the URL (http://localhost:8096/). This is the default URL for Jellyfin.
Still having a problem? I recommend restarting your computer and reinstalling the software.
If not, lets move on to the Quick Start Guide
